Worksmart have secured further success in the Education sector with refurbishment works at Edinburgh Napier University – Merchiston Campus. The Design Corridor alterations and refurbishment were won via competitive tender and is a significant project for our new Edinburgh office.
The nine week programme will consist of considerable downtakings with works commencing to four design studios and a retail unit, the Worksmart team will reconfigure the available space to make it more manageable for staff and students. This reconfiguration includes the erection of various internal glazed screens and vision panels, both fire-rated and non. To comply with acoustic performance regulations within the university new 12.5mm soundblock metal stud partitioning is to be installed in order to achieve a minimum airborne sound insulation of 43dB Rw. The old mezzanine is to be replaced as well as the creation of an accompanying balustrade and a full joinery package will be employed including bespoke fitted furniture (shelving, desks, racking) in the campus shop. Other multi-trade interior works involve suspended ceilings, timber doors, flooring, re-decoration and connecting new M&E to existing services.
The refurbished learning spaces form part of the university’s dedicated attention to specialist facilities for the School of Arts and Creative Industries. A carefully considered spatial environment is paramount in the Education sector and Worksmart have the expertise to meet the requirements of your organisation.
