Glenapp Castle – Luxury Castle Hotel – Ayrshire

Located in Ballantrae, Ayrshire, Glenapp Castle dates back to the 1870s and was designed by the celebrated Edinburgh architect David Bryce.

Now, it is one of Scotland’s finest luxury hotels with several notable awards in the hospitality industry.

The current owners had the ambition and foresight to turn Glenapp Castle into one of Scotland’s most enchanting and leading hotel venues in the UK. Among the awards the Castle has received in recent years is the prestigious Sunday Times “Best Place to Stay 2020”.

The latest round of upgrades and renovations to the venue involved the complete redevelopment of the third-floor area into a luxury suite named The Endeavour, and the Glenapp Castle Penthouse Apartment.

The suite boasts its own independent butler, private elevator, sauna, spa, multiple en-suite bedrooms and kitchen and dining areas.

Passive fire protection upgrades were also carried out by Worksmart Fire Door Inspection throughout the castle. These upgrades helped bring the castle’s fire safety measures up to modern standards.

New fire doors, access hatches, sprinkler systems and new structural timbers were installed, along with a vast array of Passive Fire Protection measures.

The Worksmart teams ensure the venue was able to retain its historic charm while achieving modern safety standards.

Specialist stone masons were brought in to help and new timber beams and calcium silicate boards had to be installed in various locations. A sprinkler system was also installed. Thanks to the hard work of Worksmart Fire Door Inspection, Glenapp Castle now meets all standards for fire door compliance.

This was a truly unique project to work on with many difficult challenges. The COVID-19 also had its say, delaying works and forcing some of our operatives to stay on-site to ensure travel was kept to a minimum.

The Killie Club – Kilmarnock Football Club

With Kilmarnock Football Club’s growing support, there was a need to increase the capacity of the sports bar within the main stand and give it a vibrant new look, in line with the recently refurbished 1869 Suite.

The redesigned bar would be called The Killie Club, an homage to the history of the Club and its past fans. This new facility would give the extra space required to cater to the increasing volume of fans before and after home matches. Due to the increased number of visitors, the toilet facilities also had to be extended, with new male, female and disabled toilets being created to accommodate supporters. Working over the course of 10 weeks during the close season, the Worksmart Teams were faced with the challenge of a set deadline which couldn’t be altered. As usual, the teams did themselves proud and finished everything in time for the beginning of the new 2019/2020 season.

This is the latest in a number of projects delivered for Kilmarnock Football Club, each of which has been a huge success. Alongside Thomson Hunter Architects, Worksmart Contracts was able to deliver another successful project for the Club.

The 1869 Function Suite Kilmarnock Football Club

The project at Kilmarnock Football Club’s stadium consisted of a full strip-out of the Club’s very popular Park Suite. The suite is situated in the main stand of the stadium, and was to be renovated as a brand-new function suite – The 1869 Suite – to facilitate corporate hospitality on match days. As part of the renovation brief, it was clear that Kilmarnock F.C were eager to use the new suite for more than just hosting corporate guests on match days. The new state-of-the-art function suite will also open to the public and can be used for family occasions, entertainment and special events for the local community.

The job involved the addition of a modern catering kitchen fitted to cater to the needs of players, staff and guests. The nutrition of the players is paramount to ensuring success on the pitch, and the new catering facilities will help to promote that. The new facility will also benefit from variety of modern lighting, audiovisual and communications systems.

The time and budget constraints associated with working at a football club were no different here and provided us with a real challenge. Despite this pressure, the Worksmart Teams completed everything on time and on budget before the beginning of the new 2019/20 season. This is the latest in a number of projects delivered for Kilmarnock Football Club, each of which has been a huge success. The Players Gym – Kilmarnock Football Club

There’s nothing more important to a football club than the fitness and well-being of its players. The board at Kilmarnock Football Club wanted to overhaul the Club’s training facilities and bring them into the 21st century. This exciting and innovative project involved the complete transformation of a former greenkeeper’s shed into a brand new, state-of-the-art training and gym facility. The location of the gym between the Chadwick Stand and physio rooms allows for the playing squad, management and fitness coaches to remain in close proximity on a daily basis.

The new fitness suite will encourage greater levels of fitness and enhanced rehabilitation capabilities for the playing squads; this will ultimately benefit the team on the pitch. A great deal of vision and expertise was required to transform the former greenkeeper’s shed into the new gym complex. Working alongside Thomson Hunter Architects, the project involved removal of the old roof and an increase in the structure’s height, as well as installation of larger windows to welcome in more natural light, along with an extension to the building itself.

Kilmarnock FC – Refurbishment – Ayrshire

Worksmart Contracts were appointed to undertake the major refurbishment of two of our hospitality lounges within the stadium of Kilmarnock Football Club. There was a requirement to complete the work within a two month period to coincide with the start of the new football season.

Worksmart Contracts not only completed the refurbishment within the timescale allocated, the standard and quality of their work was exemplary. Throughout the process, communication was excellent and any matters which arose were dealt with timeously.
