Clean Air in the Working Environment

6th May 2022

Following the pandemic, employers have been forced to take notice of employee welfare in the office. Without adequate ventilation and air filtration systems in place, airborne infections can spread rapidly through a workspace therefore it is important to have adequate fresh air circulation.

High infection rates in an office environment can have adverse effects on company productivity and can be damaging financially. Reduction in the spread of infection will reduce the number of employees requiring sick leave therefore investing in preventative measures is very worthwhile. In the not-too-distant future, the UK Government will be introducing legislation which will emphasise the importance of indoor air quality (IAQ) in new buildings. This legislation relates directly to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems (HVAC) with the aim of increasing air quality by 50%.

Now that companies are beginning to implement Hybrid Working models and are encouraging their employees back to the office for part of the week, businesses must consider how to prepare. At Worksmart Contracts, we take client welfare into account at every stage of the fit-out and refurbishment process and we install various systems to give our clients peace of mind when it comes to employee wellbeing. Working in collaboration with our clients and their design teams, we install various air-conditioning, ventilation, air filtration and heating systems that circulate fresh air while regulating temperatures. This ensures that staff are comfortable but also safe from the rapid spread of infection.

We would highly recommend that employers consider looking at their air-circulation prior to the UK Government legislation being formalised. This will significantly decrease the disruption to your business and will enhance productivity. With many companies and government agencies recognising the requirement for safer workplaces, we have helped several organisations implement these measures throughout Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond. Our team work in collaboration with various project and design experts to ensure that the safety of employees is accounted for when in their place of business
