The Players Gym – Kilmarnock Football Club

There’s nothing more important to a football club than the fitness and well-being of its players. The board at Kilmarnock Football Club wanted to overhaul the Club’s training facilities and bring them into the 21st century. This exciting and innovative project involved the complete transformation of a former greenkeeper’s shed into a brand new, state-of-the-art training and gym facility. The location of the gym between the Chadwick Stand and physio rooms allows for the playing squad, management and fitness coaches to remain in close proximity on a daily basis.

The new fitness suite will encourage greater levels of fitness and enhanced rehabilitation capabilities for the playing squads; this will ultimately benefit the team on the pitch. A great deal of vision and expertise was required to transform the former greenkeeper’s shed into the new gym complex. Working alongside Thomson Hunter Architects, the project involved removal of the old roof and an increase in the structure’s height, as well as installation of larger windows to welcome in more natural light, along with an extension to the building itself.

The time and budget constraints associated with working at a football club were no different here and provided us with a real challenge. Despite this pressure, the Worksmart Teams completed everything on time and on budget before the beginning of the new 2019/20 season. This is the latest in a number of projects delivered for Kilmarnock Football Club, each of which has
been a huge success. Alongside Thomson Hunter Architects, Worksmart Contracts was able to deliver another successful project for the Club.

Client Testimonial

"Worksmart Contracts are great partners of the Club and we were delighted to kick things off for Phase 2 after the great success of Phase 1. Phase 2 seen us refurbish the Sports bar, Park Suite and install and fit a new Gym facility on site for our playing squads. The renovation allowed the club to re-brand the Park Suite as the 1869 Suite, which is now the perfect, contemporary space for functions, events and matchday hospitality. With a new kitchen fit, this enabled the club to increase operational capabilities and offer more to fans and customers.

The Club’s sports bar has been re-branded as the Killie Club, a sort of reincarnation of the original Killie Club.
We want this to be the perfect space for fans on a matchday and offer this for hire for events that any true Killie fan would be delighted to enjoy. The team at Worksmart operated to the brief given and presented cost effective measures throughout. Their team worked diligently on site and integrated well with our staff to ensure minimum disruption whilst they were on site."
