NHS Ayrshire & Arran Woodland View | Working Local

Worksmart worked alongside main contractor Balfour Beatty to supply and install glazed partitioning solutions for Woodland View, NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s new £46m mental health and community facility in Irvine.

Balfour Beatty’s pledge to support local employment and subcontractors throughout the duration of the project ensured that 23% of the workforce hailed from Ayrshire, secured our involvement and 72% of the £46m funding was spent locally.

John Scott, Project Director for Woodland View said: “Ensuring that the local community benefited was absolutely integral to the project from the outset. Together with Balfour Beatty, we were committed to ensuring that as many local people as possible were provided with employment opportunities at the site.”

Our expertise in architectural glazing saw a combination of bespoke Forza primed timber, glazed screens (fire-rated and non) erected throughout the wards and public areas. In total, more than 500 pieces of glass were installed into 140 individual screens that were made up of 23 different screen types.

Worksmart are delighted to be part of the project with our strong history in the healthcare sector successfully completing projects at the Southern General, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Royal Victoria Maternity Unit in Belfast.

Gaiety Theatre | Phase One

Phase one of Worksmart’s extensive refurbishment of Ayr’s Gaiety Theatre is complete ahead of tonight’s Murder Mystery performance: The April Fool.

The phase involved reviving the tired changing facilities with our team installing new flooring and suspended ceilings, worktops and shelving, sanitary works (2 disabled access showers) and M&E systems. The décor is clean, bright and ready to host a variety of stars complete with polished chrome vanity lighting.

Tonight’s performance by Sonic Boom Theatre Company will be held in The Gaiety Studio Theatre as phase two of main auditorium works are well underway with virtual completion of strip-out works: stage, seating, M&E systems and ventilation as well as the erection of central scaffolding.

As week seven of the project comes to a close the team continue to work on schedule to restore this iconic Ayrshire venue to its former glory.
